“ A painter colorizes the history of their own heart, mind, body and spirit." - Christopher M. Strickland

Christopher M. Strickland is an Artist Educator who works in a variety of media, but primarily focuses on watercolor painting. By taking daily life experiences as subject matter while commenting on the spectrum of human emotions, Strickland creates intense personal moments, acts of meditation and abstract expressions. His paintings directly respond to the surrounding environment and uses everyday experiences from the artist as a starting point.  Often these are framed instances that would go unnoticed in their original context. His works demonstrate how life extends beyond its own subjective limits, undergoing transubstantiation and often tells a story about the effects of a spiritual awakening and transformation.

With an intuitive approach, he tries to explore a wide array of subjects in a multi-layered context.  His works are characterized by the use of everyday experiences and natural elements.  The results are deconstructed to the extent that meaning is shifted and possible interpretation becomes multifaceted.  By applying abstraction, he tries to increase the dynamic and connection between audience and creator by objectifying emotions and investigating the duality that develops through a variety of interpretations.
